Service-Learning Trip Opportunity for Adults
Nicaragua Trip: July 12-21
Trip Cost: $2300*
*Includes roundtrip airfare from Philadelphia (arrangements from other locations can be accommodated), hotel lodging, ground transportation in Nicaragua, translation, project supplies, training materials, and side-trips.
Ayudanica is a 501(c) (3) non-profit service-learning organization dedicated to improving educational opportunities for the rural poor in Nicaragua, fostering cross-cultural understanding, and promoting social justice and a sense of global awareness and responsibility. Ayudanica has several openings for a 10-day service-learning trip to Nicaragua. The trip provides an opportunity to experience Nicaragua at a grassroots level, and to explore the history, culture and people of Nicaragua, as well as several social justice and global issues that affect them. Participants will visit small villages in which Ayudanica works, providing opportunities for meaningful interaction with community members through visits to homes, jobs, and farms, as well as service opportunities at the Ayudanica Community Learning Center in the village of Monte Rosa. Also included in the trip are visits to traditional craft villages and personal craft workshops, which allow for an inside look into Nicaragua's cultural and economic life. Other side trips include visits to beautiful Masaya Volcano, tropical beaches, the historic Spanish colonial city of Granada, and other historically and culturally significant sites along Nicaragua's breathtaking Pacific coast.
You may register as an individual, a couple, a group (church group, friends, neighbors, business team, civic group, etc.).
